Highly Commended

Highly Commended for the BDD Foundation

Asociat are proud to have helped the BDD Foundation achieve a highly commended at Festival of Media‘s inaugural Campaign Cause Awards in Best Long Term project. It came a close second to an impressive literacy campaign from P&G in India. It’s a milestone in our short history so it means a lot!

The highly commended campaign was multi-faceted and included:

Campaigning for a change to the law – to legislate for better protection for young people when consuming filtered social media imagery.

Working with the fashion and beauty industry – to enable these sectors become a part of the solution – the maintenance of unrealistic standards of beauty can serve to exacerbate BDD in some people.

Staging direct interventions – to help those living with BDD manage its impact on their lives.

The judges were impressed with several facets of this well-rounded campaign…

  • Partnering with Monki to drive signatures to a petition to call for transparency of social media imagery – a bill has since been tabled to parliament by a prominent MP, and the BDD-Foundation was invited to contribute to a parliamentary-report  on the impact of body image on mental health
  • Working with Cosmopolitan Magazine and the charity’s leading clinical practitioner to devise a BDD self-diagnosis quiz
  • Securing empathetic PR coverage featuring case studies of people whose lives have been impacted by Body Dysmorphic Disorder in titles such as Cosmopolitan Magazine, the Daily Mirror and The Guardian
  • Launching an ‘Overcoming BDD Program’ to help sufferers learn to manage the condition through CBT based training – a solution that addresses the often long NHS waiting lists – which can be over two years long in some areas

As well as achieving a highly commended in the Best Long Term project category, the BDD Foundation work was also shortlisted in ‘Best Unsung Cause’ and ‘Best Use of Small Budgets’.

Purpose will be central to rebuilding brands in the society that is emerging after the pandemic. The businesses that will not just survive, but thrive, over the coming months and years will be those whose leaders embrace the notion that there is no merit in profit without purpose.

That’s great and all, and we commend you for pushing through with it. Unfortunately we no longer offer support for IE; it hasn’t received a major update since 2015 and Microsoft are dropping support for it later in the year.
