Sound Lasers Action: We help EdenLAB and the Welsh Government launch a new immersive festival

Eye Cymru fell victim to Covid precautions in 2021 and was curtailed just as ticket sales got underway. Delightfully, the collaborating powers regrouped and evolved the experience as Annwn – a Welsh mythological reference to the Otherworld.  Annwn played to full houses in October 2023 within the spectacular grounds of Caernarfon Castle.  See the full story here.

Eye Cymru

This is a revolutionary and immersive sound & light experience, featuring an eclectic mix of award winning and multi-million selling performers.

Developed to interact with the unique topography of our host venue – the magnificent grounds of Cardiff Castle. Thanks to a unique partnership between the Welsh Government and our client EdenLAB, Eye Cymru will get its world premiere in October 2022.

It is set to become a landmark feature of the UK arts and festival scene, with events being planned throughout 2022 and 2023.

The Eye Cymru team are in planning for a potential headline installation at Glastonbury Festival in 2022.

Eye Cymru is a transformational sound and light spectacular

  • Our marketing plans aim to attract an audience of between 60,000 and 100,000 people
  • The Eye Project is the brainchild of Chris Levine – the internationally lauded artist whose medium is laser, light and 3D portraiture
  • Produced by EdenLAB – who co-create live IP with the ambition of connecting people back to our environment and to each other
  • For the live soundscape, Chris is collaborating with the founder of Massive Attack and multiple award winning songwriter Robert Del Naja, the 3D spatial sound specialist Marco Perry and singer songwriters Nick Mulvey and Gruff Rhys

Our role

Asociat helps bring spectacular to Wales:

EdenLAB, the Welsh Government and Asociat have come together to help communicate a spectacular message of light and hope just as the country begins to feel its way out of the pandemic.

To encourage communities to get back out into the world and to stimulate the economy.

Our aim is to connect people together in a transformational moment of contemplation – which seems more relevant than ever in a post Covid world.

To remind them that there is now an opportunity for us to collectively re-forge a different relationship to nature – which has benefitted so much from the lockdown.

Asociat will be bringing  brand sponsorship and marketing communications support to Eye Cymru as well as working with Literature Wales to create a unique spoken word edition to the events; 100 Words of Hope.

Creatively, we will help to create participatory elements to draw in local communities hit hardest economically (by the pandemic); to transform our audiences from mere guests to artistic contributors. 100 Words of Hope will focus the audience on capturing their dreams for the future.

100 Words of Hope: Audience participation is not restricted to the night itself. We will be inviting a number of community groups that have been most economically impacted by the pandemic to contribute to the experience with 100 Words of Hope.

People from these communities will be invited to describe and upload their hopes and intentions for the future in 100 words. These words will be folded into The Eye Project experience as part of the soundscape. The contributors whose entries are selected will be our VIP guests to the show their words are performed at.

Heritage of Eye Cymru

The Eden Project is where Eye technologies were first developed and performed to great critical acclaim in 2016 and again in 2017 as the iy-project.

The iy-project also headlined international arts festivals Wilderness (UK) and Dark Mofo (Tasmania) in 2017 with record-breaking attendances.

EYE Cymru is the latest experiential event co-created and produced by the EYE Project collective and EdenLAB.

Sound Lasers Action

The lasers are triggered and fired from a network of towers, intersecting and interplaying between each tower.

At the heart of the Eye Cymru experience is how light and music interplay with the environment; which the makes the event a unique choreography between the soundscape, the lasers, the night sky and the heritage architecture of Cardiff Castle.

Purpose will be central to rebuilding brands in the society that is emerging after the pandemic. The businesses that will not just survive, but thrive, over the coming months and years will be those whose leaders embrace the notion that there is no merit in profit without purpose.

That’s great and all, and we commend you for pushing through with it. Unfortunately we no longer offer support for IE; it hasn’t received a major update since 2015 and Microsoft are dropping support for it later in the year.

If you’re using Windows 10 and want to stick with a built in browser, please consider switching to Edge. Or, if you really want to enjoy the internet properly we strongly recommend downloading Google Chrome here.
